Apprenticeships Are Shaping the Future Workforce

Four teenagers under one roof? Our founder Simon Bucknell definitely gets it. He’s living the 2025 workforce reality every day. And what’s he seeing? The undeniable power of apprenticeships. He’s convinced they’re the blueprint for tomorrow’s talent.

At EMBS, we understand the evolving world of talent acquisition. While we specialise in placing qualified professionals, we recognise the critical role apprenticeships play in building a skilled workforce.

The latest UK Government statistics underscore the growing importance of this pathway.

Apprenticeship Growth

From August to October 2024, apprenticeship starts increased by 1.3%, reaching 132,560. Notably, higher apprenticeships (Level 6 and 7) saw significant growth, with starts rising by 10.9% to 25,490.

This growth isn’t just about numbers; it reflects a shift towards higher-level skills development, crucial for today’s dynamic industries.

Under 19s accounted for 31.5% of starts (41,810). Learners from ethnic minority backgrounds increased by 7.7% to 20,700, representing 15.8% of the cohort.

Learners with learning difficulties/disabilities (LLDD) also saw an increase of 3.7%, to 20,800, now making up 16.3% of all apprentices.

These figures demonstrate the increasing accessibility and appeal of apprenticeships across diverse demographics.

In today’s fast-paced business world, traditional qualifications alone aren’t enough. We’re witnessing a shift towards valuing practical skills and real-world experience, and apprenticeships are at the forefront of this revolution.

Why Apprenticeships Matter

Apprenticeships deliver immediate real-world experience, building adaptability. They bridge the gap between theory and practice, empower a diverse workforce, and prepare talent for future industry challenges.

While we don’t directly recruit apprentices, we recognise the value they bring to the workforce. We’re committed to supporting individuals throughout their career journey, including those who have gained valuable experience through apprenticeships.

Apprenticeships are not just an alternative educational pathway; they’re a vital component of a thriving workforce. By investing in skills and practical experience, we can build a brighter future for both individuals and businesses.
