We are recruiting an AI Consultant - AI CoE Lead for a senior, high-impact leadership engagement sitting within a consultancy environment supporting a major end client on a large-scale AI transformation program.
AI Consultant - AI CoE Lead
Location: US / Remote
(East or Central time zones with monthly on-site client visits)
Salary: Circa $240,000 USD per year
This is a strategically important opportunity focused on building trusted enterprise AI capability within a highly regulated environment, with a strong emphasis on AI governance, enterprise architecture, explainability and scalable AI delivery.
The program itself is centered around establishing the architectural and governance foundations required for enterprise-wide AI adoption, ensuring AI systems are accurate, traceable, secure and reliable for real-world decision making.
With strong executive visibility, significant long-term investment and the mandate to shape enterprise AI strategy, you will operate as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, guiding roadmap decisions, governance frameworks and enterprise AI readiness initiatives.
This role sits across strategy, architecture and leadership, combining enterprise AI governance with hands-on oversight of AI architecture, data readiness and cross-functional delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop the AI Centre of Excellence, establishing enterprise-wide best practice, standards and governance
Define and drive enterprise AI strategy aligned to business objectives and long-term transformation goals
Support the design of trusted AI systems capable of navigating complex regulatory and compliance guidance
Establish scalable governance, validation and responsible AI frameworks across AI initiatives
Assess organizational AI readiness across data, architecture, security and operational capabilities
Guide AI-ready data architecture strategies across structured and unstructured data environments
Advise on GenAI / LLM architecture, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and semantic retrieval approaches
Support knowledge management strategies including vector databases, knowledge graphs and AI-enabled knowledge bases
Identify, assess and prioritize high-value AI use cases and transformation initiatives
Act as the primary AI advisor to executive stakeholders, business leaders and program functions
Collaborate with data scientists, architects, engineers, product owners and delivery teams to shape scalable AI solutions
Provide governance, oversight and architectural leadership across evolving enterprise AI programs
Oversee end-to-end AI lifecycle delivery - from strategy and assessment through to implementation and scaling
Champion responsible AI principles, explainability, governance and ethical AI practices
Mentor and develop AI talent, strengthening internal capability and knowledge sharing
Communicate program progress, value, risks and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and PMO stakeholders
Key Skills & Experience
7+ years’ experience in AI consulting, AI architecture, enterprise data strategy, data science leadership or similar roles
Proven experience delivering AI transformation initiatives within large-scale enterprise environments
Experience operating within consultancy, solution architecture or client-facing AI leadership roles
Strong experience building, scaling or leading AI Centers of Excellence or CoE-style operating models
Strong understanding of enterprise AI governance, responsible AI and AI validation frameworks
Experience designing AI-ready architectures across structured and unstructured data environments
Strong knowledge of GenAI / LLM ecosystems, RAG architectures and semantic retrieval approaches
Understanding of vector databases, knowledge graphs and AI-driven knowledge management strategies
Knowledge of streaming and batch data technologies and modern enterprise data platforms
Strong understanding of AI-specific security, privacy and compliance considerations
Experience with data governance frameworks, policies and data contracts
Technical background in engineering, architecture, data science or platform engineering would be highly advantageous
Experience partnering directly with executive stakeholders and translating business requirements into AI strategy
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to operate between technical teams, business stakeholders and PMO functions
Experience operating in complex, evolving and fast-moving enterprise environments
Desirable
Experience with AI orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph or similar
Familiarity with cloud AI platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Experience working within regulated or compliance-heavy environments
Advanced degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science or related field

c$240,000 base salary
