Overview

EMBS Engineering Ltd are currently seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our well-established client in Tipton on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a critical role that reports directly to the Head of Manufacturing, with the primary objective of optimising manufacturing processes and driving continuous improvement throughout the organisation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Act as the primary technical interface for manufacturing, from initial design to final production, ensuring manufacturability.

  • Initiate and manage projects aimed at enhancing process efficiency, productivity, and quality, complete with supporting business cases.

  • Implement robust strategies to identify and eliminate sources of waste within the production lifecycle.

  • Develop, update, and control all critical manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, drawings, and test plans.

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of manufacturing data within production control and MRP systems.

  • Provide expert support for the commissioning of new manufacturing facilities, including process validation and operator training.

  • Contribute to strategic business decisions by performing make/buy assessments and shaping manufacturing strategies for new tenders.

  • Apply robust root cause analysis techniques (e.g., 5 Whys, DMAIC) to resolve Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).

  • Collaborate and lend technical expertise to peers, particularly in the domain of automated equipment and COBOTs.

Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • A degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field, combined with a minimum of four years of relevant experience.

  • A proven background with at least two key manufacturing processes, such as machining or mechanical assembly.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for clear instruction and collaboration.

  • A systematic and meticulous approach to design review and process optimisation.

  • A demonstrated ability to create precise manufacturing instructions for various stakeholders.

  • A highly developed commercial awareness, with a focus on delivering quality and value in a timely manner.

  • Proficiency in standard office software and the aptitude to master internal systems.

Desirable Skills

  • Hands-on experience with the programming and operation of industrial robots.

  • Practical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Familiarity with modern automated manufacturing systems and collaborative robotics (COBOTs).
