We’re looking for a Senior Back-End Developer to join a growing engineering team building a modern analytics and AI-enabled platform used by enterprise clients across multiple regions.
Senior Back-End Developer
Location: UK / Remote
Package: c£75,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits
This is a high-impact role within a business scaling both its product capability and client base.
As the platform continues to grow in complexity, concurrency, and usage, the team are investing in experienced engineers who can help shape scalable architecture, improve platform resilience, and influence long-term technical direction.
You’ll join a collaborative engineering environment where thoughtful technical challenge, ownership, and continuous improvement are genuinely valued. The role would suit someone who enjoys solving complex backend challenges, contributing to architectural decisions, and helping evolve engineering standards within a growing product-led business.
What You’ll Do
Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and cloud-native frameworks.
Develop secure, resilient microservices and APIs within a heavily AWS-focused environment.
Help evolve backend architecture to support increased platform scale, concurrency, and performance.
Work closely with Product, Front-End, Analytics, DevOps, and Data teams to shape technical solutions and roadmap delivery.
Contribute to discussions around API design, validation, security, versioning, scalability, and maintainability.
Support AI-enabled product capabilities through integrations with modern cloud AI services and analytics tooling.
Drive high engineering standards through collaboration, code reviews, technical discussions, and mentoring.
Identify opportunities to improve platform quality, robustness, and long-term sustainability.
Participate in story mapping, technical planning, and architectural decision-making.
What We’re Looking For
Strong commercial experience in backend software engineering using modern Java.
Experience building cloud-native applications and microservices within AWS environments.
Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, distributed systems, scalability, and backend architecture patterns.
Experience working with AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, EventBridge, S3, or similar.
Strong understanding of secure development practices, endpoint validation, and robust backend design.
Experience building systems that support growing user bases, concurrent activity, and increasing operational scale.
Ability to challenge ideas constructively and contribute positively within collaborative engineering teams.
Excellent communication skills with the confidence to contribute to technical discussions and planning sessions.
Exposure to AI/ML integrations, analytics platforms, or intelligent automation tooling would be beneficial.
Experience with Quarkus, Kafka, Kinesis, Snowflake, Python, or event-driven architectures would be advantageous but not essential.
