Overview

EMBS Engineering Ltd is working in partnership with a leading precision engineering and fabrication specialist, located in the Midlands, that is currently in the market for a Manufacturing Planning Engineer to join their company on a permanent basis.

This market leader is a well-established entity within the precision engineering industries and boasts a rich history of supporting globally recognised customers with safety-critical, highly complex components.

What’s in it for you?

  • Stability / Longevity: join a secure, well-established and growing manufacturing business

  • Competitive salary: dependent on experience

  • Hours: Days

  • The chance to play a central role in how work moves through a busy production environment

Responsibilities

Due to continued success, our client is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Planning Engineer to join their team. As Manufacturing Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for turning new orders into clear, achievable production plans, working closely with the shop floor to keep jobs moving smoothly from quote through to delivery. You will:

  • Review new customer orders, drawings, specifications and delivery dates to fully understand requirements before work begins

  • Create works orders and manufacturing routes within the ERP system, identifying the correct sequence of operations such as cutting, forming, welding, machining, finishing and inspection

  • Calculate and confirm setup and operation times, and check that material, tooling, programmes and subcontract services are available ahead of production

  • Issue job packs containing drawings, route cards and relevant specifications

  • Work with production supervisors to resolve shortages, bottlenecks and technical problems, and support root cause analysis where needed

  • Coordinate subcontract processes such as heat treatment, plating or specialist testing

  • Support contract review, new product introduction and first-off production, using CAD software (2D & 3D) to help resolve technical problems found during manufacture

  • Ensure revision-controlled drawings and specifications are used throughout, and maintain accurate planning information within the ERP system

  • Review actual production times against planned times to improve future estimates

  • Attend production meetings and report on priorities, delays and recovery actions

Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing planning role, ideally within a precision engineering or fabrication environment

  • Practical, hands-on industry experience — for example, having progressed from a shop floor role into planning

  • CAD experience with packages such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Siemens NX or HyperMill (Fusion 360 is used by the business but not essential)

  • A background in fabrication is preferred, though candidates with strong machining experience will also be considered

  • A proactive approach to planning and understanding requirements upfront, helping to prevent production issues before they arise

  • The ability to hit the ground running — apprenticeship-trained or time-served candidates are just as welcome as those with formal qualifications

If you are interested in the opportunity of Manufacturing Planning Engineer and believe you meet the illustrated criteria, apply today to join our client’s growing team located in the Midlands.
