Overview

EMBS Engineering Ltd is working in partnership with a leading precision engineering manufacturer, located in Northampton, that is currently in the market for an Engineering Buyer to join their company on a permanent basis.

This industry leader excels in precision engineering, delivering high-performance solutions across motorsport, automotive, electrification, defence, and marine sectors. With decades of expertise and a state-of-the-art facility, it provides innovative, compact, and high-performance products that prioritise innovation, efficiency and performance.

Your responsibilities will include:
 

  • As an Engineering Buyer, you will be responsible for: 
  • Managing procurement activities for precision-engineered components, ensuring cost, quality, and delivery objectives are met
  • Developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships to ensure a reliable supply chain
  • Negotiating pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to secure the best commercial outcomes
  • Identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or performance
  • Monitoring supplier performance and addressing any issues related to delivery, quality, or cost
  • Collaborating with internal departments, including engineering and production teams, to align procurement strategies with business goals
  • Working with MRP/ERP systems to manage procurement processes efficiently
  • Sourcing and purchasing technical components, including turned and milled parts to micron specifications
  • Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and quality standards
  • Identifying risks within the supply chain and implementing effective mitigation strategies


Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in supply chain purchasing/buying within precision engineering or advanced manufacturing environments
  • Experience working within highly regulated industries such as Aerospace, Automotive, Motorsport, F1, Defence, Nuclear, Petrochemical, etc.
  • Strong expertise in purchasing technical, turned, or milled components to micron specifications
  • Proficiency in MRP/ERP systems with strong analytical, negotiation, and business management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for supplier and stakeholder engagement
