EMBS Engineering Ltd is working in partnership with a leading precision engineering manufacturer, located near Lichfield / Tamworth area that is currently in the market for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their company on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities
Due to internal changes and off the back of continued success, our client is seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to provide project leadership for the engineering and support manufacturing activities, maximising profit and strengthening our client's position within the precision engineering sector. This role is crucial for managing customer projects and supporting manufacturing and quality functions internally.
Your responsibilities will include:
As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for managing new engineering projects from enquiry to delivery, acting as customer liaison, and supporting existing production issues.
You will:
Manage new engineering projects from enquiry stage through to delivery of first parts, and from conception to completion for internal development activities.
Collaborate with Project Managers on major projects to create and manage overall project timing plans across various departments.
Serve as the primary customer liaison during the project phase.
Create product costings at the concept phase and monitor/manage them throughout the project lifecycle.
Work with manufacturing and production engineering to balance product performance and manufacturability for both existing and new products.
Provide technical input to quality standards and processes, and offer engineering support on quality matters.
Offer off-site support for customers and suppliers, including attending customer tests.
Take responsibility for resolving customer issues with current products to inform future product specifications.
Manage and support the Engineering Team in the Chief Engineer's absence.
Run FMEA meetings to ensure customer specifications and quality requirements are met from an engineering perspective.
Be commercially aware to recognise the impact of your actions on the bottom line.
Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Engineer within the automotive environment.
Sufficient commercial awareness to recognise the impact of actions on profitability.
A high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure when necessary.
A team player with a 'can-do' attitude, capable of working at speed to achieve tight deadlines.
Eloquent and outgoing, able to build strong relationships with suppliers and customer engineers, and liaise on technical matters with other departments.
The commitment to 'go the extra mile' when required.
Ability to supervise the work of other department members when necessary.
Working knowledge of D-FMEA, P-FMEA, & APQP
Experience in automotive brakes/chassis engineering/development is preferred.
