Team Lead – Civil & Structural Design Engineer

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced Civil & Structural Design Engineer to take ownership of a high-performing design team supporting our clients growing portfolio of renewables and power infrastructure projects. You will lead the civil and structural design function, driving technical excellence across windfarm, solar, BESS, substation, and overhead line projects from concept through to construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of civil and structural design engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
  • Oversee the delivery of civil and structural design packages including foundations, access roads, drainage, cable routes, substation civil works, and associated infrastructure
  • Act as the primary technical authority for civil and structural design, ensuring all outputs meet relevant Irish and international codes and standards
  • Review and approve design documentation, calculations, drawings, and specifications produced by the team
  • Coordinate with electrical, planning, and construction teams to ensure integrated, constructible design solutions
  • Manage design programme, resource allocation, and quality assurance across multiple concurrent projects
  • Engage with clients, statutory bodies, and third-party consultants as a senior technical representative
  • Support business development activity through technical input into tenders and proposals
  • Uphold the clients commitment to safety, with particular attention to CDM obligations and design risk management

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent); Chartered status (Engineers Ireland / ICE) desirable
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in civil/structural design, with at least 2 years in a team lead or senior role
  • Proven experience delivering civil/structural design on utility-scale renewables, power infrastructure, or similar projects
  • Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD.Pro or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of Irish/European design standards (Eurocodes, IS standards)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Full clean driving licence
