About the Role

Our client is growing... With a proven track record in utility services, predominantly in the telecoms sector, the business is scaling aggressively into strategically relevant, high-growth markets: EV infrastructure, transmission & distribution (T&D) grid, renewables, and data centre enabling infrastructure.

This role is central to that ambition. You will be the commercial engine driving expansion, building the kind of long-term client relationships and revenue base that will position the company alongside the leading utility infrastructure contractors in Ireland initially, and the UK.

Target Sectors

T&D Grid — transmission & distribution overhead and underground network works (ESB/NIE Networks, DNO, IDNO)
Renewables — wind, solar and grid connection infrastructure; electrical and cable packages for IPPs and developers
Data Centres — HV/MV/LV enabling works, substation builds and civil infrastructure packages
EV & Smart — EV charging network rollouts and smart metering programmes
Street Lighting — upgrade programmes, smart controls and long-term maintenance frameworks for local authorities
Telecoms — supporting BD in fibre, wireless and network infrastructure, leveraging existing relationships and delivery capability

Key Responsibilities

Identify, qualify and develop new business opportunities across T&D grid, renewables, data centre infrastructure and adjacent utility services markets in Ireland and the UK. Build and maintain a strong pipeline of tender opportunities, tracking PQ submissions, frameworks and negotiated procurements with disciplined CRM use. Cultivate senior-level relationships with infrastructure developers such as ESB, NIE Networks, National Grid, DNOs, Tier 1 main contractors, renewable energy companies and data centre developers. Coordinate bid strategy for priority pursuits, working with estimating, operations and HSQE teams to produce compelling, commercially sound tender submissions. Develop and execute an annual business development plan with clear sector targets, revenue goals and activity metrics. Represent Secto at industry events and client engagement forums. Monitor competitor activity, market trends and government investment programmes (Climate Action Plan, National Development Plan). Support framework and preferred supplier agreement negotiations. Provide monthly reports to the CEO and Board on pipeline, conversion rates and sector intelligence. Identify strategic partnership and JV opportunities in target growth sectors.

What We're Looking For

Essential: 5+ years' business development, sales or commercial experience within utility infrastructure, power, telecoms or a closely related sector; a demonstrable track record of winning new clients and growing revenue in a project-based or framework contracting environment; excellent communication and presentation skills, comfortable at C-suite and procurement director level; commercial acumen across bid pricing, margin analysis and contract risk; self-motivated, able to operate with autonomy within a small, fast-moving senior team; full clean driving licence with willingness to travel across Ireland and the UK.

Preferred: an existing network across Irish and/or UK utilities, renewable energy developers, DNOs/TSOs, the data centre ecosystem and Tier 1 contractors; experience coordinating tender submissions with multi-disciplinary bid teams; a degree in engineering, business or a related discipline; strong understanding of the Irish and UK government infrastructure investment landscape.

Why this company

This business has genuine momentum — established credibility in telecoms and utilities, a skilled workforce, and a leadership team with clear ambitions to scale into the power and renewables sectors that will define infrastructure investment in Ireland and the UK for the next decade. This is an opportunity to join at the right moment: the foundations are in place, and this role shapes what the business becomes.
