Head of Sales & Commercial - Aerospace

Contract

Full Time

Location

Amber Valley, Alfreton CP

Salary

£80,000

Are you a sharp commercial negotiator ready to step into a senior leadership team and shape the commercial future of a growing engineering business?

We’re looking for a high-impact Commercial Manager to join our senior leadership team and directly influence commercial strategy, customer engagement, and business growth. This is more than an account manager role — it’s your stepping stone to becoming our next Head of Commercial Sales.

About the client

They’re a fast-scaling, high-precision engineering business with a world-class reputation for services and partnerships in the aerospace and energy sectors. They have unique capabilities — trusted by Rolls-Royce and other major global players — that have helped double their footprint and output in the past two years.

The Role

You’ll own and lead all commercial customer interactions, from strategic negotiation to pricing, contract renewals, and new customer onboarding. While this is a customer-facing role, your core value lies in your commercial acumen — turning complex contract discussions into long-term value, not just price wins.

  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with existing and new customers

  • Articulate a compelling value proposition in a regulated, complex environment

  • Lead customer engagement across major aerospace and energy clients

  • Operate with influence at board level (including engaging with shareholder clients)

  • Collaborate across engineering, operations, and quality to align delivery with commercial agreements

  • Contribute to cross-business strategy and SLT decision-making

  • Report directly to the General Manager

What we’re looking for:

  • 5–10+ years in a commercial management, sales, or business development role in a technical or engineering-led environment

  • Someone who is commercially sharp — you’ve negotiated complex contracts, understood margin, pricing pressure, and driven value beyond just cost

  • Has experience dealing with OEMs (e.g. Rolls-Royce), regulated industries, or high-value, low-volume B2B service offerings

  • Enjoys navigating commercial nuance — including cost justification, margin management, and client politics

  • Is ambitious, curious, and want to step into a more strategic commercial leadership path

Bonus points if you’ve sold repair, refurbishment, or service-based propositions in aerospace, defense, or adjacent sectors — but we’re open to commercial pros from adjacent industries who can get up to speed quickly.
