Senior Design Project Manager Location: Ireland Business Unit: Renewables & Engineering / Power Transmission & Distribution

Recruiting for a critical utility infrastructure service provider operating extensively across Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the UK. They deliver full EPC turnkey solutions across Power Transmission & Distribution, Renewables & Engineering, Smart Energy Services, and Telecoms — working with some of Ireland's most prominent energy and network clients.

The Role

Seeking an accomplished Senior Design Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of complex multi-disciplinary engineering design programmes. This role sits at the heart of the Group's project delivery capability, ensuring design outputs are delivered on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards across our renewables and power infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end management of engineering design programmes for major infrastructure projects including windfarms, solar farms, BESS, substations, overhead lines, and underground cable schemes
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams (civil, structural, electrical) and third-party consultants to ensure integrated, timely delivery of design packages
  • Develop and maintain detailed design programmes, tracking progress and proactively managing risks and interfaces
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients on all design-related matters, building strong working relationships and managing expectations
  • Manage design budgets, resource plans, and change control processes
  • Ensure all design activity complies with relevant regulations, standards, and Group's HSQE management systems
  • Support the preparation of fee proposals, tender submissions, and design management plans
  • Report progress to senior leadership and flag issues requiring escalation in a timely manner
  • Drive a culture of right-first-time delivery, continuous improvement, and client focus across design teams

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification or Chartered status desirable
  • Minimum 8–10 years' experience in a design management or project management role within the utility infrastructure, energy, or construction sector
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-disciplinary design programmes on complex infrastructure projects in Ireland
  • Strong understanding of the Irish planning, consenting, and grid connection process
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent)
  • Exceptional organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure
  • Full clean driving licence
