Commissioning Manager — Ireland
Permanent | Full Time | Up to 400 kV | 5+ years experience

The opportunity

This is a rare chance to step into a lead commissioning role with one of Ireland's most respected utility contractors — a business with a strong pipeline of transmission, distribution, and renewable energy projects across the country.

You'll own the commissioning function: planning, testing, leading the on-site team, and interfacing directly with the client. It's a role with genuine technical authority, real career progression, and a team that values mentorship and development.

What you'll be doing

→ Leading commissioning of primary and secondary plant across transmission, distribution, and generation systems on the Irish Grid
→ Commissioning and testing power transformers, AIS and GIS switchgear, and all substation equipment
→ Testing substation control and protection systems using Omicron test equipment
→ Preparing commissioning plans and overseeing site safety assessments
→ Attending factory acceptance tests and representing the business with clients and stakeholders
→ Supporting bid submissions and design reviews where required
→ Developing in-house commissioners — mentoring the next generation of the team

What we're looking for

→ HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
→ Commissioning experience up to 400 kV
→ Proficient with Omicron test equipment and software
→ Knowledge of SCADA, SCS, and IEC61850
→ Familiarity with ESB Networks / EirGrid specifications (advantageous)
→ Experience with primary and secondary equipment from ABB, Siemens, or Toshiba
→ Strong client-facing and communication skills
→ Self-motivated; able to lead a team independently
