Bid Manager

Contract

Full Time

Location

Nottingham, Nottinghamshire

Salary

£55,000

About the OrganisationOur client is a market-leading technology business operating within the public sector, delivering intelligent solutions that modernise and optimise complex service environments. With a collaborative, international culture and strong growth ambitions — including the development of a UK centre of excellence — this is an exciting time to join a business that is genuinely invested in its people and its future.
The Opportunity
This is a great opportunity for a bid professional who wants to develop within a genuinely international environment, working across UK and global tenders. You will take ownership of the full bid lifecycle — from qualification through to submission and post-bid review — collaborating closely with commercial, technical, and senior stakeholder teams across the UK and internationally.
Rather than a rigid set of sector-specific requirements, this business is looking for the right behaviours, mindset, and transferable skills. If you have a genuine passion for winning and the drive to lead a process, this could be the role for you.
What This Hiring Manager Actually Wants

1.  AI & Technology Literate

The team actively uses AI tools to speed up and standardise bid production. You don’t need to be a developer, but you should be comfortable with modern technology and understand how AI can support the bid process — not just in theory, but in practice.

2.  A Process Leader

You will need to be the person who holds the bid together — accountable for the process, the stages, and the people contributing to it. This isn’t about managing a large team; it’s about having the confidence to drive a cross-functional bid forward, sometimes in pressured and fast-moving situations.

3.  Comfortable in an International Environment

Tenders can span the UK and beyond — from domestic transport projects to international opportunities in places like Australia or mainland Europe. You will work with colleagues globally, and periodic travel will be part of the role. A flexible, culturally aware approach is essential.

4.  Growth Mindset & Positive Outlook

This one matters most. The business is growing and building its culture deliberately. They want someone who is solution-focused and team-oriented — someone whose first instinct is ‘here’s how we fix it’ rather than ‘here’s why it didn’t work’. Energy, accountability, and a positive presence will go a long way here.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end bid process from qualification and pre-bid through to submission, presentation, and post-award handover.
  • Write, structure, and tailor high-quality proposals aligned with customer requirements and procurement frameworks.
  • Build and review commercial models and pricing structures as part of tender submissions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional input from internal stakeholders across UK and international teams.
  • Drive bid/no-bid decisions and contribute to win strategy with senior commercial leads.
  • Develop and maintain bid templates, best practice frameworks, and knowledge libraries to improve future submissions.
  • Monitor deadlines, manage bid costs, ensure compliance, and support the wider global business on complex or multi-territory tenders.

Background & Experience

Sector background is far less important than capability and mindset. Candidates from public sector technology, education, engineering, rail, or any environment where formal tendering takes place are all of interest. What matters is:

  • Some exposure to the bid process — you understand what goes into a tender submission and have played a meaningful role in one.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a sharp eye for detail and quality.
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to understand pricing structures and financial justifications.
  • Organised and self-directed — able to manage competing deadlines without dropping the ball.
  • Willing and able to travel internationally when the role requires it.
  •

What’s on Offer

  • Up to £55,000 salary depending on experience.
  • Hybrid working — Nottingham-based with genuine flexibility and a collaborative office environment.
  • International exposure and genuine career development as the business scales.
  • A purposeful, people-first culture with strong international connections.
  • The chance to be part of building something — this is a business in growth mode.
