Overview

embs. is working in partnership with a leading energy infrastructure contractor, based in Ireland, that is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team on a permanent basis, with a particular focus on supporting their Frameworks division. This is a hands-on commercial role spanning projects from tender through to completion and final account, working closely with the Frameworks, Engineering, Project Management and Commercial teams, as well as clients, suppliers and subcontractors.

Benefits: Contributory pension scheme, death in service scheme, and structured training and career development in a high-growth sector.

Responsibilities

Off the back of continued success and growth, our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial and QS support across their Frameworks division, from tender through to final account.

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support tender preparation, prepare and review BOQs and undertake measurement in line with relevant Standard Methods of Measurement, and read and interpret construction and engineering drawings to accurately quantify works.

  • You will prepare subcontract work packages, RFQs and tender enquiries, analyse quotations to produce clear commercial comparisons and recommendations, and negotiate pricing, terms, lead times and contractual conditions.
  • You will manage subcontractor valuations and variations, prepare and manage interim valuations and applications for payment, support final accounts, and identify, evaluate and prepare variations, claims and entitlements.
  • Monitoring costs, profitability, cash flow and budgets, and reporting commercial performance to the Frameworks Director — will be central, alongside procurement of materials, equipment and subcontract packages and regular site visits to verify quantities and support accurate valuations.

Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline, and a minimum of five years' post-qualification experience in a similar commercial construction role.

You will bring proven experience in tendering, cost control, valuations, variations, claims and final accounts, a strong grasp of BOQs and measurement, and the ability to undertake quantity take-offs and site measurement confidently.

A strong understanding of construction contracts and contract administration is required, with NEC, FIDIC and/or JCT experience advantageous. You will be commercially astute, numerically strong, excellent in Excel, and comfortable working safely and independently on active sites.

Experience within civil engineering, utilities, energy infrastructure or renewables would be advantageous; knowledge of electrical infrastructure, substations or HV/MV projects is beneficial but not essential.

If you are interested in this Quantity Surveyor opportunity and believe you meet the illustrated criteria, apply today to join our client's growing team in Ireland.
