EMBS Engineering Ltd is working in partnership with a leading Rolling Stock Maintainer, located in Newcastle that is currently in the market for a Reliability Engineer to join their company on a FTC basis.

This market leader is a well-established entity within Rail and boasts a rich history of supporting globally recognised customers with safety-critical maintenance projects.

Responsibilities

Due to internal changes and off the back of continued success, my client is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to take ownership of reliability growth and performance improvement across a modern EMU fleet, working closely with the operator and the wider supply chain.

Your responsibilities will include:

As a Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for driving forward fleet reliability through structured investigation, data analysis and close collaboration with operational and supply chain partners.

You will:

  • Translate complex performance data into clear dashboards and reports, providing both internal stakeholders and customers with an evidence-based understanding of fleet performance and actionable improvement recommendations.
  • Act as a key technical liaison between engineering teams, train operators and external suppliers or OEMs, ensuring effective communication and alignment around technical issues.
  • Manage technical queries and warranty claims throughout their full lifecycle
  • Ensure investigations are taken through to completion by implementing corrective and preventative actions and monitoring their effectiveness over time.
 

Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • Qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 4, or equivalent, within a relevant engineering or technical discipline.
  • A completed apprenticeship or equivalent background in electrical, mechanical, network or software engineering, supported by strong hands-on practical experience..
  • Demonstrable experience of conducting and leading structured root cause investigations using recognised methodologies
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, including customers, suppliers and internal teams.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
