Are you hands-on with electronics, enjoy problem-solving, and looking to grow your career in a supportive, tech-focused environment? We're looking for a Workshop Engineer to join a Nottingham-based team, where you'll play a key role in the repair and refurbishment of passenger information systems.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a keen interest in electronics and technology who is detail-oriented, methodical, and keen to develop their skills within a modern workshop environment.

 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs down to component level on a range of hardware devices.
     
  • Refurbish and maintain passenger information and ticketing equipment.
     
  • Replace through-hole and surface-mount components as required.
     
  • Use operating software and support files to reprogramme and update systems.
     
  • Produce accurate quotations for chargeable repairs and manage the related administration.
     
  • Support compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 standards.
     
  • Assist with monthly stock audits, stores management, logistics, and tracking.
     
  • Occasionally work on customer sites to support installations or field service activities.
     
  • Install equipment on buses, trams, light rail systems, and associated infrastructure.
     
  • Provide system monitoring, remote diagnostics, and on-site troubleshooting.
     
  • Liaise with and provide training to customers’ operational staff.
     

 


About You:

  • Enthusiastic about electronics, particularly at board level.
     
  • Ideally experienced in electronics repair or a workshop/repair centre environment.
     
  • Strong attention to detail and committed to accurate record-keeping.
     
  • Confident communicator with a professional and approachable manner.
     
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
     
  • Willing to travel occasionally across the UK or internationally, if needed.
     
  • Holds a valid UK or EU driving licence.
