The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a high-energy HR professional to join a premier engineering and manufacturing specialist close to Redditch. The company has experienced phenomenal growth, expanding from a £22m valuation to a £63m turnover business in recent years.
As they continue to scale, they are seeking a self-sufficient HR Advisor to join their high-impact team. Reporting directly to the site leadership, the successful candidate will be the "boots on the ground" expert for a facility of over 150 employees. This is a role for a "swan"—someone who can remain calm and professional on the surface while managing a high-volume, fast-paced workload behind the scenes.
Key Responsibilities
● Full-Spectrum HR: Managing the entire employee lifecycle, from return-to-work support and coaching managers to leading disciplinary actions and complex ER cases.
● Site Autonomy: Acting as the primary HR point of contact 4 days a week, providing confident, independent decision-making when the HR Lead is off-site.
● Management Coaching: Serving as an assertive partner to line managers; the Advisor will coach and empower them to take ownership of their people responsibilities.
● Apprenticeship Coordination: Supporting a thriving apprenticeship scheme, collaborating with the
Engineering Manager to manage Levy funding and mentor future talent.
● Financial & ESG Involvement: Managing training and lower-level HR budgets while contributing to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) submissions, particularly regarding labor and human rights.
● Mentorship: Building a development plan for and coaching a full-time HR Coordinator to help them progress in their career.
Candidate Profile
This organisation is looking for an SME specialist who understands how to navigate growth and handle unstructured days.
● Experience: A proven track record in a generalist HR role within an SME environment is essential
(Manufacturing or Hospitality backgrounds are highly regarded).
● Qualifications: HR-related qualifications CIPD level 5, and a commitment to ongoing CPD development are expected.
● Attributes: Candidates must be self-sufficient, assertive, and approachable, with the ability to react quickly to the needs of a growing site.
● Apprenticeship Knowledge: An understanding of apprenticeship schemes and Levy funding is a distinct advantage.
● Presence: This role requires being on-site 4 days a week at the facility to effectively liaise with staff and managers.
Why Join Them?
● Competitive Salary: At £42,000 + Benefits
and benchmarks against Senior HR Advisor scales.
● Career Progression: The company values succession planning, and this role is viewed as a stepping stone toward a Business Partner level.
● Flexibility: While the role requires 4 days on-site, they offer 1 day of remote work and flexibility regarding daily start times.
● Work-Life Balance: The company offers a tangible benefit in the form of an early Friday finish (07:30-12:30).
